What Are Custom Orthotics?

Custom orthotics are special shoe inserts made just for your feet.

Store-bought insoles are made for an 'average' foot. But your feet are not average — they're yours!

Custom orthotics fix the way your foot hits the ground, which stops pain and keeps you moving.

How They Work

Your feet are the base of your whole body. When they're not supported right, it can cause pain in your feet, knees, hips, and back.

Custom orthotics:

Hold your arch at the right height for you
Move pressure away from sore spots
Stop your foot from rolling the wrong way
Absorb shock when you walk or run

This fixes your alignment from the ground up!

Who Needs Them?

Custom orthotics help people with:

Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
Flat feet or high arches
Bunions and hammertoes
Knee, hip, or back pain from bad alignment
Diabetes (special soft orthotics)
Sports injuries

Even if you don't have pain, they can help you perform better!

Good Questions

Things People Ask

How long do they last?
Most custom orthotics last 2 to 5 years. It depends on how active you are and what they're made of. We check them once a year to see if they need replacing.
Will they fit in my shoes?
Yes! They fit in most shoes — sneakers, dress shoes, and boots. Tell Dr. Clements what shoes you wear and she'll pick the right style for you.
How long to get used to them?
About 1 to 2 weeks. Start by wearing them a few hours a day, then add more time each day. Your feet need to get used to the new position.
Does insurance cover them?
Many insurance plans cover custom orthotics, especially for a foot problem. Our team will check your benefits for you. You can also use FSA or HSA money.
Why not just buy insoles at the store?
Store insoles are made for an average foot and just add cushion. Custom orthotics are molded to YOUR foot, fix the real problem, and are made to last. They fix the cause, not just the pain.
